On January 16, 2009, Health and Human Services (HHS) published two final rules to adopt updated HIPAA standards; these rules are available at the Federal Register. Health plans may elect to provide additional options to providers, like dual mode for a period of time or end to end provider testing period. Post-n-Track will publish such timelines and plans in this section when the information is available.
HIPAA Compliance Dates:
- January-December 2011; Partner testing and implementation of the new ASC X12 5010 transaction version.
- Until December 31, 2011; The final rule allows dual use of either the previous version 4010A1, or the new version 5010.
- January 1, 2012; Compliance date for 5010. Discontinue use of the previous ASC X12 version 4010A1. Only the updated 5010 ASC X12 version standard may be used.

Testing/Production Status
Testing:
- Payer testing has been completed. Post-n-Track is accepting MVP test files which will be tested with PNT only upon receipt of your test file you will receive a Post-n-Track 999.
Production:
Effective 11/16/11:
- Post-n-Track will accept 5010 claim files for MVP HealthCare. Your responses (999, 277CA, 835) will come back from MVP in the 5010 version.
- MVP will continue to accept 4010 claims through the end of the year 12/31/2011.
**Please note that the 277CA and the 835 will be returned in 5010 format only.
